Co-Curricular Activities

The College has been in the forefront of carrying out various co-curricular activities as well, besides regular academic nurturing, for ensuring their personality development and orienting them to achieve global competencies. The students participated in large numbers in these activities under the guidance of the staff. The details of these activities are presented here-under.

NaibTehsildar,( under the stamp Naib Tehsildar, Executive Magistrate 1st Class), Banihal handed over the possession of land measuring 69 Kanals and zero Marla acquired for the construction of Govt. Degree College, Banihal in village Bankoot vide its office letter No.209-12/08 dated 21-06-2013. Dr. Anil Gupta, Principal along with Area Manager, JKPCC Ltd. visited the site for identification of approach road, leveling of ground, fencing of the acquired land in order to avoid encroachment and other allied works.

Govt. Degree College Banihal came into being on May 5, 2008, to cater to the educational aspirations of students of this far flung area. To commemorate this great development in this hilly area of our J&K State, College Foundation Day was celebrated on May 5, 2013 wherein refreshment was distributed among the students, while impressing upon them to take full advantage of higher educational facilities available to them now at their doorstep.

                                        TEACHERS DAY CELEBRATED
The college organized a Symposium on September 5, 2013, to celebrate the Teachers Day. A total of 15 students participated in the symposium. Nasir Hussain of BA Part II bagged the 1st prize. The second prize went to Nasreen Nazir of BA Part I while as Afya Manzoor and Touseef Ahmad of BA Part III and BA Part I respectively shared the third prize. Consolation prizes were given to other speakers as well to encourage them and inspire others to participate in such activities in future. On this occasion the faculty members also spoke, who dwelt at length on the importance of teacher in the society and the contribution of Dr. Radhakrisnan, the great teacher, to this nation.

                                               PICNIC TO PATNITOP
To have a break in the daily academic activities and also infuse interest among students about environmental issues, the college organized a one-day picnic to Patnitop, the famous hill resort. Situated at an altitude of 2024 meters, this beautiful plateau offers breathtaking scenic and serene mountainous views of the area. The students while enjoying the virginity of nature also had a firsthand knowledge of flora and fauna of the area.

                                                     NSS ACTIVITIES
The college observed NSS Day on September 24, 2013 to infuse among students the values of Social Service. Plantation drive was carried out on this occasion and refreshment was distributed among the NSS volunteers.

                                            WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
NSS Unit of the College observed the World Environment Day on june 5,2013. A symposium on Climate Change-Impact on Green Ecology" was organized by the college on this occasion.

                                         WILDLIFE CONSERVATION DAY
Wildlife Conservation Day was observed by the College on October 5, 2013. On this occasion a symposium was organized on "Need of Wildlife Conservation and its protection for future protection" wherein Nasir Hussain of BA Part II bagged the second prize.

An Interactive Cum Motivational lecture was organised by the college for the students in collaboration with 12 RR of the Army and SBI on December 3, 2013 underthe project "Udaan" of Govt, of India. Dr. Anil Gupta, Principal of the College and Sh. Varinder Sharma, Director, MSME Development Institute, Jammu and Sh. I.B. Sharma, LBM, SBI, enlightened the students about Entrepreneurship Development, Skill Development, Project Identification and related issues.

                              BANIHAL YOUTH FESTIVAL CELEBRATED
The College celebrated Banihal Youth Festival in collaboration with 12 RR unit of Indian Army on September 26 - 28, 2013. Debates were held on "Performance of India in International Sports Arena" and is promotion of Tourism good for Mountainous areas where disaster management preparations are inadequate. Nasir Hussain of BA Part II of this College bagged the prestigious First Prize. Mr Khurshid Alam and Mr Manzoor Ahmed, the faculty members of the college comprised the jury.
